Can foreign same-sex couples marry in Buenos Aires?
Yes. Buenos Aires has an official process for two foreign visitors in transit, and Argentina allows marriage between two people of the same or different sex.
What is normally required?
The city currently asks for passports, marriage declarations, two adult witnesses with valid Argentine DNI and an address in Argentina, plus proof of a temporary address in Buenos Aires. Extra documents may apply after divorce or widowhood.
Do we need a Spanish translator?
If either partner does not understand Spanish, the city requires a certified public translator and the translator’s details in the declaration.
How long does the official appointment take?
After the registry accepts a complete file, the city says the appointment should be granted within five working days. Document review and travel planning should begin earlier.
What does Argaytrip do?
